Natividad Medical Center CEO Harry Weis resigns

Harry Weis, CEO of Natividad Medical Center in Salinas, Calif., is leaving his position July 25, according to a Monterey Herald report.

In the eight years Mr. Weis worked for the county-owned hospital, he led a financial turnaround, spearheaded the opening of new service lines and drove nearly $50 million in capital investments. Before then, he worked for Huron Consulting Group.

Mr. Weis said he "elected to leave Natividad and pursue other healthcare options and opportunities in the exciting emerging post-healthcare reform environment," according to the report.

The hospital released a statement saying supervisors expect an interim CEO to be appointed Monday while the county conducts an executive search" for a Mr. Weis' replacement.
