Michigan hospital appoints new COO: 4 things to know

The Children's Hospital of Michigan, part of Detroit Medical Center, has appointed Eric Hess COO.

Here are four things to know about Mr. Hess.

1. For the last 12 years, he has served in executive leadership positions at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC. Most recently, he served vice president of operations, a position where he oversaw the startup operations of their new campus.

2. Previously, Mr. Hess was a senior manager in healthcare consulting with Deloitte. There, he led a cross-functional team credited with several hospitals' financial turnaround successes, officials said. 

3. Mr. Hess has extensive project development experience, including the design and building of an all-digital campus, and has implemented quarterly leadership training programs, officials said.

4. He is a certified public accountant and has a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in Indiana, Pa.
