Meadowlands Hospital Medical Center names second CEO in 3 months

Meadowlands Hospital Medical Center in Secaucus, N.J., has named its CNO as CEO, replacing Thomas Considine, who left the CEO post after three months, according to a Star-Ledger report.

Felicia Karsos, now CEO, has served as Meadowland's CNO since 2010. She previously served as senior vice president at Saint Michael's Medical Center in Newark, N.J.

Mr. Considine joined Meadowlands in May — making him the hospital's third CEO in the last 3.5 years — but the hospital board agreed to replace him earlier this month. He is now consulting the hospital "in regard to its relationship with payors and TruPlan," which is the hospital's self-insurance plan, according to a Meadowlands statement.

The largest healthcare worker union at Meadowlands has a problem with the change in leadership. "It's just a revolving door of people with titles and no authority to change the focus of profits before patients," Jeanne Otersen, spokeswoman for Health Professionals and Allied Employees, said in the report. "A return to business as usual."
