Kaiser Permanente names new executive medical director in Georgia: 4 things to know

Mary L. Wilson, MD, has been named executive medical director of Kaiser Permanente of Georgia, the state's largest nonprofit health plan serving 269,000 metro Atlantans.

Here are four things to know about Dr. Wilson.

1. In her new role, Dr. Wilson, a board-certified pediatrician, will lead The Southeast Permanente Medical Group, which provides care exclusively for Kaiser Permanente members. One of the largest multi-specialty medical groups in the state, TSPMG has 600 clinicians who deliver care through a network of 26 medical centers, as well as at four contracted hospitals in and around Atlanta — Piedmont Hospital, Northside Hospital, Gwinnett Medical Center and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

2. Prior to joining Kaiser Permanente of Georgia, Dr. Wilson served as area medical director for the Kaiser Permanente Panorama City Medical Center in Los Angeles.

3. During her tenure with Kaiser Permanente Panorama City Medical Center, she led 400 physicians and 3,000 employees at the 230-bed hospital, as well as four other medical offices and a mental health center.

4. She has held several other leadership roles at Kaiser Permanente Panorama City Medical Center, including assistant medical director for patient care experience, where she designed and implemented a strategy to help more than 5,000 physicians improve the care experience for over 3.5 million patients.
