Jim Connelly, president and CEO of Health Alliance Plan and executive vice president of its parent company, Detroit-based Henry Ford Health System, will retire in December.
Here are four things to know about Mr. Connelly and his retirement.
1. Mr. Connelly became CEO of HAP last year after serving since 2000 as CFO of HFHS.
2. Under Mr. Connelly's leadership, HAP has grown to 690,000 members — the highest membership in the company's history.
3. Henry Ford Health System CEO Nancy Schlichting, who previously announced plans to step down in December 2016, described Mr. Connelly in a statement as "a leader who is genuine, honest and sincere, with a true passion for helping our patients, members and customers." She added, "HAP's accomplishments during Jim's tenure as president are impressive. Jim led his team with a laser focus on compliance, customer service, operational excellence and new member growth."
