Guthrie Corning Hospital names Garrett Hoover CEO: 5 things to know

Guthrie Corning Hospital in Corning, N.Y., has named Garrett Hoover president and CEO, effective in August, according to a Star-Gazette report. 

Here are five things to know about Mr. Hoover.

1. Mr. Hoover will replace Shirley Magana, who retired July 1.

2. Mr. Hoover is currently senior vice president and COO of Olean (N.Y.) General Hospital, part of the Upper Allegheny Health System.

3. Mr. Hoover has more than 25 years of senior healthcare leadership experience, according to the report. He was formerly president and CEO of Nason Hospital in Roaring Spring, Pa.

4. During his tenure at Nason, Mr. Hoover implemented several successful patient revenue growth strategies, including a 7 percent average annual growth rate over a 12-year period, according to the report.

5. Mr. Hoover is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and received a master's degree in health administration from Seton Hall University in South Orange, N.J., a master's degree in human resources administration from Saint Francis College in Loretto, Pa., and an undergraduate degree from Penn State University.
