Gov. Scott Walker's appointment to UW Clinics Authority Board approved

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker's (R) appointee, Andrew Hitt, JD, was approved to the nonpartisan University of Wisconsin Clinics Authority Board in Madison, according to the Green Bay Gazette.

Republicans in the Senate Health Committee won in a 3-2 vote to approve Gov. Walker's candidate. The nomination will now move to the full Republican-run Senate.

Currently, Mr. Hitt volunteers as treasurer for Our American Revival, a fundraising committee Mr. Walker created in January. He told the Senate committee that his role with the committee consists mostly of administrative paperwork, according to the report.

Senator Jon Erpenbach (D-Middleton), told the Green Bay Gazette he was concerned Mr. Hitt was taking the opportunity to serve on the board away from a '"typical Wisconsinite" because the slot usually goes to someone without experience in politics.

Previously, Mr. Hitt worked four years in Gov. Walker's administration before switching to the private sector in a senior living services company. He also served on the UW Hospital board as the designated appointee of the state Department of Administration for a year, according to the report.
