John W. Polanowicz, former secretary of the Executive Office of Health and Human Services in Massachusetts, has taken a role as executive vice president of network, insurance and physician operations at Boston-Based Steward Health Care System, according to The Boston Globe.
Here are four things to know about Mr. Polanowicz.
1. In his new job at Steward, Mr. Polanowicz oversees more than 3,000 physicians, and is responsible for Steward’s accountable care operations and for contracting, according to the report.
2. In a statement, Mr. Polanowicz said he is "excited to be a part of Steward’s continued expansion."
3. Mr. Polanowicz was president of St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, a Steward hospital in Brighton, Mass., before joining the administration of former Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick (D) in 2013, according to the report.
4. Mr. Polanowicz, a former military helicopter commander, is the former president and CEO of Marlborough Hospital, part of Worcester, Mass.-based UMass Memorial Health Care.
