Forest Hills Hospital appoints Susan Browning executive director: 4 things to know

Susan Browning, a veteran healthcare administrator for Great Neck, N.Y.-based North Shore-LIJ Health System, has been appointed executive director at Forest Hills (N.Y.) Hospital.

Here are four things to know about Ms. Browning.

1. She takes over for Rita Mercieca, RN, who has been appointed regional executive director for North Shore-LIJ in Brooklyn, N.Y.

2. In her new role, Ms. Browning will oversee day-to-day operations and strategic plans for the 300-bed Forest Hills hospital, which treats more than 50,000 emergency department visits each year and provides extensive ambulatory services throughout Queens, N.Y.

3. In a news release, she said her goals as executive director are "to further build it [the hospital], establishing it as a destination hospital for the Queens region and beyond."

4. Immediately prior to her appointment, Ms. Browning was vice president of North Shore-LIJ's neurosurgery, neurology, ENT/head and neck and ophthalmology services lines.  She also served as senior vice president of business development and practice management, as well as vice president and chief of staff for Staten Island (N.Y.) University Hospital, a 700-bed tertiary hospital of North Shore-LIJ.
