DMC executive steps down to take on new role: 3 things to know

Detroit Medical Center executive Herman Gray, MD, is leaving his post to become president and CEO of United Way for Southeastern Michigan.

Here are three things to know about Dr. Gray and his departure.

1. Dr. Gray, who is executive vice president of pediatric health services for DMC, is expected to leave the health system by the end of September.

2. He will succeed Michael Brennan, who is stepping down after three decades with United Way and nearly 12 years leading the Detroit-based affiliate.

3. Dr. Gray has a long history with Detroit-based Children's Hospital of Michigan and DMC. In 2003, he was named COO of Children's Hospital; in 2005, he was named president of the hospital and senior vice president of DMC; in 2013, he was named CEO of Children's Hospital and executive vice president of pediatric health services for DMC.
