Dignity Health realigns hospital leadership in the Sacramento area: 4 things to know

San Francisco-based Dignity Health has realigned hospital leadership in the Sacramento, Calif., area, according to a Sacramento Business Journal report.

Michael Ricks, former president of Mercy Hospital of Folsom (Calif.), left Dignity Health last month, health system spokeswoman Melissa Jue said in the report. Edmundo Castañeda is now president of both Mercy General Hospital in Sacramento and Mercy Hospital of Folsom.

Here are four things to know about Mr. Ricks and his departure.

1.  The exact circumstances surrounding Mr. Ricks' departure are unclear. However, Ms. Jue told the Sacramento Business Journal that Mr. Ricks left "to pursue other professional opportunities."

2. Mr. Ricks became president of Mercy Hospital of Folsom in October 2012.

3. Prior to his role as president of Mercy Hospital of Folsom, he was COO of St. Joseph's Medical Center in Stockton, Calif.

4. Amid Mr. Ricks' departure, Mr. Castañeda is actively recruiting for a COO to be an on-site administrator at Mercy Hospital of Folsom.
