CHI St. Luke's Health picks president for Patients Medical Center: 5 things to know

Houston-based CHI St. Luke's Health has named Steven Foster president of Patients Medical Center, its 61-bed acute care hospital in Pasadena, Texas.

Here are five things to know about Mr. Foster.

1. He will take over his new role Aug. 8.

2. In his new role, he will replace Bill Simmons, who retired earlier this year.

3. Prior to joining CHI St. Luke's, Mr. Foster was CEO of Barstow (Calif.) Community Hospital. There, he oversaw efforts that resulted in improved quality metrics and patient safety— more than 517 days without a serious safety error—as well as increased patient and physician satisfaction scores, officials said.

4. Mr. Foster also previously held executive leadership roles at AllianceHealth in Oklahoma City, Okla., and at Edinburg (Texas) Regional Medical Center.

5. Mr. Foster earned master's degrees in healthcare administration and business administration from the University of Houston – Clear Lake. He also earned a bachelor's degree from the Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas.
