Broward Health signs on new CEO, discloses salary

Nabil El Sanadi, MD, has officially become president and CEO of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based Broward Health after signing his contract Dec. 17. According to South Florida Business Journal, Broward Health has disclosed his salary.

Dr. El Sanadi, who is also the current chairman of the Florida Board of Medicine, will earn $675,000 annually with a severance package of 18 months' pay if termination occurs during the first two years, and 12 months' pay thereafter, according to the report.

Prior to this appointment, Dr. El Sanadi was a practicing emergency medicine physician at Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale and the chief of emergency medicine for Broward Health, one of the country's largest public health systems.

Dr. El Sanadi has agreed not to perform medical operations for other organizations, though he could serve as medical director for some local government agencies, according to the report. He also agreed to donate some of his compensation from these medical director services to the Children's Diagnostic & Treatment Center, also in Fort Lauderdale, which supports Broward Health.
