Berwick Hospital names new CEO: 6 things to know

The Berwick (Pa.) Hospital Center has named Diane Ljungquist CEO, effective Oct. 5.

Here are six things to know about Ms. Ljungquist.

1. She succeeds David Steitz, who left the post at Berwick Hospital to accept a CEO position at Carlisle (Pa.) Regional Medical Center.

2. She has more than two decades of healthcare operations and hospital administration experience.

3. She most recently served as CEO of Tyler Memorial Hospital in Tunkhannock, Pa. There, she previously served as CNO and COO. Tyler Memorial and Berwick Hospital are part of Wilkes-Barre, Pa.-based Commonwealth Health.

4. Previously, she served as Berwick Hospital's CNO and assistant CEO.

5. Ms. Ljungquist has also served as assistant CEO at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

6. She earned her bachelor's degree in nursing from the former Wilkes College in Wilkes-Barre and a master's degree in healthcare administration from King's College, also in Wilkes-Barre.
