Barlow Respiratory Hospital names new CEO: 8 things to know

Barlow Respiratory Hospital in Los Angeles has hired Amit Mohan as CEO.

Here are eight things to know about Mr. Mohan.

1. He will begin his new duties Nov. 1.

2. Of his new job, he said, "I look forward to helping our physicians and team members continue the journey of helping people breathe better, which started over 110 years ago." He added, "Barlow Respiratory Hospital fills a very important role in the healthcare continuum by serving the sickest and most vulnerable patients in the Los Angeles area. I look forward to partnering with acute care hospitals in the region to supplement their services with our expertise."

3. Mr. Mohan is an experienced leader with 18 years of clinical and leadership expertise in healthcare.

4. He currently serves as executive director for Shore Rehabilitation Institute in Brick, N.J.

5. Under Mr. Mohan's leadership at Shore, the team has made notable improvements expanding access to care, adding new programs, improving care quality, improving team member engagement and achieving solid financial performance, according to a news release.

6. Previously, Mr. Mohan held various leadership positions across the post-acute continuum as well as in acute care hospitals.

7. He is currently a doctoral candidate in business administration at Northcentral University.  

8. He has completed various executive education programs including the American College of Healthcare Executives executive program and multiple other quality improvement programs. He is currently completing the Improvement Advisor program with the Institute for Healthcare Improvement.
