Avanti Hospitals names Michael Rembis corporate CEO: 3 things to know

El Segundo, Calif.-based Avanti Hospitals, which owns and operates Memorial Hospital of Gardena (Calif.), Community Hospital of Huntington Park (Calif.), Coast Plaza Hospital in Norwalk, Calif., and East Los Angeles Doctors Hospital, has appointed Michael Rembis corporate CEO.

Here are three things to know about Mr. Rembis.

1. Mr. Rembis replaces Arnie Schaffer, who joined Avanti Hospitals in August 2014 as interim CEO. At the request of Mr. Rembis and the Avanti Hospitals board of directors, Mr. Schaffer has agreed to remain with the Avanti for the next several weeks during this leadership transition.

2. Mr. Rembis has more than 25 years of executive level hospital leadership experience in Southern California, including holding top administrative positions at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in Los Angeles, Riverside (Calif.) Community Hospital, Centinela Freeman Health System in the Los Angeles area. He also held administrative posts at Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare hospitals in San Diego.

3. He is the immediate past chairman of Private Essential Access Community Hospitals (PEACH) and is currently a residing board member for L.A. Care and McCallum Theatre in Palm Desert.
