Appalachian Regional Healthcare System taps Charles Mantooth to lead as new CEO: 5 points

Boone, N.C.-based Appalachian Regional Healthcare System named Charles Franklin Mantooth CEO, effective Jan. 27, 2017, according to a High County Press report.

Here are five points:

1. Mr. Mantooth currently serves as president of Watauga Medical Center in Boone, president and CEO of Appalachian Regional Medical Associates, also in Boone, and CEO of Cannon Memorial Hospital in Linville, N.C.

2. His previous leadership positions with Appalachian Regional Healthcare System include vice president of outpatient services and programs as well as senior vice president for corporate services.

3. He is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

4. He holds a master's degree in public health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

5. Mr. Mantooth is succeeding Richard Sparks, who is retiring.
