President of the University of Chicago Medical Center Sharon O'Keefe has been elected, by unanimous vote, as a new member of the board of directors of America's Essential Hospitals.
Ms. O'Keefe will serve as an at-large director on the board of the Washington, D.C.-based association. America's Essential Hospitals represents more than 250 hospitals that care for vulnerable patients and provide vital community services, such as trauma care and disaster response.
America's Essential Hospitals President and CEO Bruce Siegel, MD, MPH, expressed enthusiasm over Ms. O'Keefe's nomination, under whose leadership the University of Chicago Medical Center's quality and safety scores have increased.
"[Ms. O'Keefe] brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the board, and we look forward to her contributions as we help our members navigate a challenging health care environment," said Dr. Siegel.
