Several executives within Pittsburgh-based Allegheny Health Network, the integrated system owned by health insurer Highmark, are losing their jobs in what the system calls a streamlining of operations, according to a Pittsburgh Tribune-Review report.

Ned Laubacher, CEO of Allegheny Valley Hospital in Natrona Heights, Pa., was laid off Monday. He had served as CEO for four years. Michael Harlovic, Allegheny Valley's CNO, was named interim CEO. The system hasn't decided whether to make the CEO position permanent, according to the report.

Two executives from Forbes Regional Hospital in Monroeville, Pa., also lost their jobs Monday: Tom Moser, COO, and Rosemary Gaglia, CNO. Their positions will be eliminated.

A spokesperson for Allegheny Health declined to comment on whether there are more layoffs ahead, according to the report.

Allegheny Health was officially formed in April upon Highmark receiving regulatory approval for the transaction. John Paul, a former University of Pittsburgh Medical Center executive, leads Allegheny Health Network as CEO.
