AAMC Names Dr. Maryellen E. Gusic Chief Medical Education Officer

The Association of American Medical Colleges announced Thursday that Maryellen E. Gusic, MD, will be its new chief medical education officer.

Currently, Dr. Gusic serves as executive associate dean for educational affairs, the Dolores and John Read Professor of Medical Education and professor of pediatrics at Bloomington-based Indiana University School of Medicine.

"Dr. Gusic brings extensive experience in educational innovation across the continuum of medical education in addition to broad perspective and knowledge around integrating strategic goals to advance research, clinical care, community service and education programs," said AAMC President and CEO Darrell G. Kirch, MD, in a news release.
