8 latest CEO moves

The following hospital and health system CEO moves were announced or made in the last week. They are listed below, beginning with the most recent.

1. Upon the retirement of James J. Xinis, Dean Teague will become president and CEO of Frederick, Md.-based Calvert Health System, which includes Calvert Memorial Hospital and its subsidiaries, effective March 1.

2. Peter Thoreen, CEO of UnityPoint Health-St. Luke's hospital in Sioux City, Iowa, will retire by the end of 2015.

3. PrairieStar Health Center in Hutchinson, Kan., named Bryant Anderson CEO, beginning in April.

4. Ed Bruff, former executive vice president and COO of Saginaw, Mich.-based Covenant HealthCare, began his new appointment as the organization's president and CEO early this month.

5. The Whidbey General Hospital board of commissioners delayed the selection of the hospital's next CEO until February. The board named three finalists to choose from, including Geri Forbes, current CEO of Doctor's Memorial Hospital in Perry, Fla.; Michael Ellis, CEO of Big Bend Regional Hospital in Alpine, Texas; and Eric Jensen, CEO of Valley General Hospital in Monroe, Wash.

6. David C. Herman, MD, an eye specialist, began his new role as CEO of Duluth, Minn.-based Essentia Health, a 17-hospital system.

7. Alisa Coleman, CEO of Trigg County Hospital in Cadiz, Ky., is resigning after 10 years at the helm. Her last day as CEO will be Jan. 30.

8. Judith Maness, CEO of Mount St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, N.Y., will retire June 30 after the completion of a merger with Catholic Health.
