7 recent hospital, health system executive moves

The following hospital and health system executive moves occurred within the past week, beginning with the most recent.

1. Brentwood, Tenn.-based LifePoint Hospitals appointed three new vice presidents: Mary Kiger is now vice president of service line development, Conrad Deese is vice president of finance for LifePoint's Eastern Group and Rick Phillips is vice president of clinical operations.

2. Burlington, Vt.-based Fletcher Allen Health Care named Eileen Whalen, RN, as president and CNO.

3. Spencer Hamons, COO and CIO of Taos (N.M.) Health System, announced plans to step down from his positions. Mr. Hamons will become regional CIO for Healthcare at Sunnyvale, Calif.-based NetApp, a computer storage and data management company.

4. John O'Neil, president and CEO of St. Vincent's Health System in Birmingham, Ala., stepped down from his role. St. Vincent's appointed Neeysa Biddle, former executive vice president and COO, as interim CEO while the system conducts a national search.

5. Marilyn Margolis, MN, RN, the vice president of operations and CNO of Emory Johns Creek (Ga.) Hospital, was named the hospital's interim CEO. Ms. Margolis is filling in for former CEO Craig McCoy, who was appointed CEO of Emory Saint Joseph's Hospital in Atlanta Sept. 1.

6. Denver-based HealthONE health system named Mark Deno CEO of its Spalding Rehabilitation Hospital, effective Sept. 29.

7. The Board of Directors of the Metropolitan Chicago Healthcare Council named Daniel T. Yunker as its new president and CEO. Mr. Yunker will begin his new role on Sept. 30. He succeeds Kevin Scanlan, who is retiring and will serve in an advisory role as president emeritus during the transition.
