4 things to know about Chad Couch, newly named CMO of Bristol Regional Medical Center

Chad Couch, MD, a urologic surgeon who has practiced at Bristol (Tenn.) Regional Medical Center for 15 years, has been named the hospital's CMO.

Here are four things to know about Dr. Couch.

1. As CMO, Dr. Couch, who brings 25 years of experience as a physician, will be instrumental in further assisting the hospital's physicians to engage and succeed in essential leadership roles, according to the hospital. He will also help Bristol "develop and sustain evidence-based approaches to care, practice appropriate stewardship of resources and embrace innovation required to succeed in the transition to new reimbursement models implemented by healthcare reform," the hospital said.

2. Dr. Couch joined Bristol Regional's medical staff and began practicing with Bristol Urological Associates in 2000.

3. Dr. Couch has served on Bristol Regional's board of directors, as chairman of Bristol Regional's surgery department and as a member of the medical executive committee. He is also a member of Bristol Regional's Physician Clinical Council.

4. Dr. Couch has served as president of the Sullivan County Medical Society. He has been a member of the board of directors of State Volunteer Insurance since 2008.
