30 recent hospital, health system executive moves

The following hospital and health system executive moves were announced or made in the last two weeks. They are listed below, beginning with the most recent.

1. San Diego-based Sharp Health Plan appointed Cary Shames, DO, to vice president and CMO.

2. Bayonne (N.J.) Medical Center, part of Bayonne-based CarePoint Health, named Paul Minnick COO.

3. Alisa Coleman, CEO of Trigg County Hospital in Cadiz, Ky., is resigning after 10 years at the helm. Her last day as CEO will be Jan. 30.

4. Judith Maness, CEO of Mount St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, N.Y., will retire June 30 after the completion of a merger with Catholic Health.

5. Shelby Nelson, CEO of Platte County Memorial Hospital in Wheatland, Wyo., part of Phoenix-based Banner Health, will serve as interim CEO for Community Hospital in Torrington, Wyo., beginning in February.

6. Warren Forgey was named president and CEO of Schneck Medical Center. He will begin his tenure April 3, upon retirement of the hospital's current leader, Gary Meyer.

7. Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham, Ala., named Charles A. "Chuck" Stark, CEO.

8. Washington, D.C.-based HSC Health Care System announced the appointment of Raymond Vicks as deputy CFO, beginning March 2. He will succeed Nancy Southers as CFO in 2016.

9. Brooklyn (N.Y.) Hospital Center CEO, Richard Becker, MD, is stepping down to become CEO of New Found Health, a hospital and healthcare company affiliated with New York City-based Blue Wolf Capital Partners.

10. Hermiston, Ore.-based Good Shepherd Health Care System appointed Jim Schlenker as COO, effective March 1.

11. After 21 years of leadership, South Charleston, W.V.-based Thomas Health System president and CEO, Stephen P. Dexter, will retire July 31.

12. University of Missouri Health Care and the MU School of Medicine in Columbia named Brian D. Steines CFO.

13. HCA Gulf Coast Division named Stephen Nesbit, DO, CMO.

14. Rush University Medical Center in Chicago named Omar Lateef, MD, CMO.

15. Terry Belmont, CEO of University of California Irvine Medical Center in Orange, announced his retirement, effective June 30.

16. Hilton Head (S.C.) Regional Healthcare appointed Jeremy Clark as CEO to succeed Mark O'Neil, who retired last November.

17. Southwest Georgia Medical Center, part of Albany, Ga.-based Phoebe Putney Health System, named Kim Gilman, RN, CEO and CNO.

18. Andrew Cantu was named the new CFO of Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield, Calif., and he will assume his role Feb. 9.

19. Linda Grass is stepping down from her role as CEO of Jeanes Hospital, part of Philadelphia-based Temple University Health System, in March.

20. Atlanta-based Emory Healthcare named two new CEOs. Marilyn Margolis, RN, is the new CEO of Emory Johns Creek (Ga.) Hospital, and Daniel Owens is CEO of University Hospital Midtown in Atlanta. Both assumed their new roles and responsibilities Jan. 4.

21. Hospital Corporation of America Holdings appointed Lyn Ketelsen, RN, as the organization's first chief patient experience officer.

22. John Marzinzik started work as the new president and CEO of Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester, N.H.

23. Gabriel Hauser, MD, a pediatric intensivist, is now CMO of St. Christopher's Hospital for Children and vice chair of pediatrics at Drexel University College of Medicine, both in Philadelphia.

24. Duke University Health System named its new president and CEO: Eugene Washington, MD, the current CEO of UCLA Health System. 

25. Pam Stieb will step down as CFO of Sterling (Colo.) Regional MedCenter, part of Phoenix-based Banner Health, at the end of January, after being with the organization for 28 years.

26. After serving for 27 years as president and CEO of Frederick, Md.-based Calvert Memorial Hospital and Calvert Health System, James Xinis announced he will retire Feb. 28.

27. Kern Low, MD, is now CMO of Canon City, Colo.-based St. Thomas More Hospital.

28. Jeff Thompson, MD, will step down from his role as CEO of La Crosse, Wis.-based Gundersen Health this year after 14 years.

29. The Detroit Medical Center announced that DMC Detroit Receiving Hospital CEO, Iris Taylor, PhD, RN, will retire March 27.

30. Emerson Hospital in Concord, Mass., announced the appointment of Michael Hachey as senior vice president and CFO.
