17 recent hospital, health system executive moves

The following hospital and health system executive moves occurred within the last week. They are listed below, beginning with the most recent.

1. Rob Casalou, current president and CEO of St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor and St. Joseph Mercy Livingston, was appointed regional president and CEO of Saint Joseph Mercy Health System, based in Ann Arbor, Mich.

2. The University of Rochester (N.Y.) Medical Center named David A. Kirshner, MBA, CFO. Mr. Kirshner will join URMC in January, following the retirement of Michael Goonan in December.

3. Anderson, S.C.-based AnMed Health named William T. Manson III CEO, effective Jan. 1, 2015.

4. Oakland, Calif.-based Alameda Health System announced the appointment of Daniel Boggan, Jr. as interim CEO, beginning Dec. 15.

5. David F. Alexander, CPA, MBA, was named CFO of Paterson, N.J.-based St. Joseph's Healthcare System.

6. Ascension Health Michigan is consolidating CEO leadership for its Mid-Michigan region. As a result, the position of president and CEO of St. Mary's of Michigan-Saginaw, currently held by John Graham, will be eliminated.

7. Martin A. Bieber, CPA, was named interim president and CEO of East Orange (N.J.) General Hospital, effective immediately.

8. June Altaras, RN, MN, was appointed CEO of Swedish Seattle, which includes the First Hill and Cherry Hill hospital campuses, both in Seattle. Ms. Altaras will begin her new role Jan. 1, 2015.

9. Seven executives, including Svetlana Dembitskaya, the COO who was hired in May, left Wyoming, Mich.-based Metro Health.

10. Andrea DeMeo was named president and CEO of Trillium Health in Rochester, N.Y., effective Jan. 1, 2015.

11. McLaren Greater Lansing (Mich.) hospital named Thomas Mee, RN, BSN, MBA, president and CEO.

12. Rockledge, Fla.-based Health First appointed Bill Calhoun, MBA, president of community hospitals. He will oversee the operations and development of Health First's Cape Canaveral Hospital in Cocoa Beach, Palm Bay (Fla.) Hospital and Viera (Fla.) Hospital.

13. Columbus-based OhioHealth announced leadership changes at three hospitals, including OhioHealth Marion (Ohio) General, OhioHealth Dublin (Ohio) Methodist and OhioHealth Grady Memorial in Delaware.

14. Gil Walter, president and CEO of Bridgeton, N.J.-based CompleteCare Health Network, announced he will retire in December.

15. Hawaii Health Systems, headquartered in Honolulu, named Linda Rosen, MD, the new CEO beginning Dec. 16.

16. Akron, Ohio-based Summa Health System named Thomas Malone, MD, MBA, president and CEO, effective Jan. 1, 2015.

17. Rapid City, S.D.-based Regional Health named Brent R. Phillips, MHA, MBA, president and CEO, effective Jan. 1, 2015.
