17 latest hospital, health system executive moves

The following hospital and health system executive moves occurred within the last week. They are listed below, beginning with the most recent.

1. Doctors Hospital of Laredo (Texas), part of King of Prussia, Pa.-based Universal Health Services, appointed Michael La Coste, MHA, MBA, as COO.

2. Jim Shmerling, PhD, MS, MBA, CEO of Children's Hospital Colorado Health System and Children's Hospital Colorado in Aurora, is stepping down from his role as hospital CEO, but will remain at the helm of the health system.

3. Milton Anderson became the chief human resources officer of West Orange, N.J.-based Barnabas Health Dec. 16.

4. Chris Jenkins, MHA, was named president and CEO of Florida Hospital Physician Group in Tampa, Fla.

5. Nabil El Sanadi, MD, officially became president and CEO of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based Broward Health after signing his contract Dec. 17.

6. James Griffee, MD, was named CMO of Slidell (La.) Memorial Hospital, beginning Jan. 1, 2015.

7. Mark Shugarman, president and CEO of Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany, Ind., is resigning to take a new position at Shriner's Hospital for Children in Cincinnati.

8. Anniston, Ala.-based Regional Medical Center announced the appointment of four executives:

Louis Bass, CPA, was promoted to CEO of RMC. He currently serves as vice president of finance and CFO of RMC.

Joe Weaver was named CEO of RMC Hospital in Jacksonville and COO of the RMC system.

Mark North, CPA, was promoted to vice president of finance and CFO of RMC.

James (Tripp) Johnson is joining RMC as assistant vice president and project management officer, effective Jan. 4, 2015.

9. Barry Keel, CEO of Bay Medical Center Sacred Heart Health System in Panama City, Fla., will step down from his role in January.

10. Richard Cordova, president and CEO of Children's Hospital Los Angeles, announced his plans to retire. The date Mr. Cordova's retirement will take effect was not provided, but CHLA is engaging a national search to identify his successor. He will remain in his role during the interim.

11. Lucinda Bradley, MHA, was named interim CEO of Taos (N.M.) Health Systems.

12. Flint, Mich.-based McLaren Health Care named Bill Hardimon, MBA, president and CEO of McLaren Medical Group.

13. Cape Girardeau, Mo.-based SoutheastHEALTH system named Kenneth W. Bateman president and CEO.

14. Denver, Colo.-based SCL Health announced the appointment of Michael L. Taylor as system executive vice president and COO of hospital operations, effective Jan. 5, 2015, and David Pringle as senior vice president of mission integration, effective Jan. 12, 2015.

15. Tim Stover, MD, president and CEO of Akron (Ohio) General Health System, will remain at the helm of the organization through 2017.

16. Lebanon, N.H.-based Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health named Clifford J. Belden, MD, MS, chief clinical officer and executive vice president of integrated delivery system.

17. Chad M. Grant was appointed president and CEO of McLaren Oakland in Pontiac, Mich., a subsidiary of Flint, Mich.-based McLaren Health Care.
