14 latest hospital, health system CEO moves

The following hospital and health system CEO moves were reported by Becker's Hospital Review in the last week. They are listed below, beginning with the most recent.

1. Pam Brier, longtime CEO of Brooklyn, N.Y.-based Maimonides Medical Center, will retire later this year.

2. Karen Metz, CEO of Knoxville, Tenn.-based Physicians Regional Medical Center, resigned.

3. In July, the Hanover (Pa.) Hospital Board accepted the retirement of James E. Wissler as president, CEO and board member. Michael Gaskins, CFO of Hanover Hospital, is now interim president and CEO.

4. Chicago-based Presence Health, the largest Catholic healthcare system in Illinois, selected Michael Englehart as president and CEO.

5. Bryan Health in Lincoln, Neb., named Rebekah Mussman president and CEO of Crete (Neb.) Area Medical Center, effective Aug. 3.

6. Dean M. Carucci was named CEO of Portsmouth (N.H.) Regional Hospital.

7. Vancouver, Wash.-based PeaceHealth hired Elizabeth "Liz" Dunne as president and CEO.

8. Ash Gokli, MD, will be leaving his position as CEO of Memorial Hospital Los Banos (Calif.), part of Sacramento, Calif.-based Sutter Health, to take a new job as Sutter Health's CMO in the Central Valley.

9. Children's Hospital & Medical Center in Omaha, Neb., named Richard G. Azizkhan, MD, president and CEO, effective Oct. 19.

10. Southern Hills Hospital in Las Vegas named Adam Rudd CEO, effective Sept. 7.

11. Arthur W. Nichols announced his retirement as president and CEO of Cheshire Medical Center/Dartmouth-Hitchcock Keene (N.H.). Don Caruso, MD, who has served as medical director in CMC/DHK's Office of the President since 2011, is now CEO and will begin the duties of president Nov. 1.

12. Gary R. Colberg announced his decision to resign as president and CEO of Brunswick-based Southeast Georgia Health System.

13. Memorial Hermann Health System promoted Brian Dean to CEO of Houston-based Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center, effective August 23.

14. Gregory T. Wozniak, president and CEO of St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne, Pa., part of Livonia, Mich.-based Trinity Health, will step down in October after 16 years at the helm.
