10 latest CEO moves in hospitals, health systems

The following president and CEO moves were reported within the past two weeks, beginning with the most recent.

1. Robert Cannon will assume his role as president of Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis on Dec. 1.

2. Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota will have a new CEO come Dec. 8, when Robert Bonar Jr. assumes leadership of the state's largest pediatric system.

3. Duluth, Minn.-based Essentia Health appointed David C. Herman, MD, as CEO and member of the board of directors. Dr. Herman will join the organization in early 2015.

4. Margaret M. Van Bree, DrPH, was appointed president of Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, the largest hospital in the Providence-based Lifespan health system, and its pediatric division, Hasbro Children's Hospital. Her position is effective Jan. 5, 2015.

5. Houston-based CHI St. Luke's Health System named David Argueta, MBA, president and CEO of its Woodlands area facilities, including The Woodlands Hospital, Lakeside Hospital and the Springwoods Village Facility.

6. Garry C. Faja, regional president and CEO of Saint Joseph Mercy Health System in Ann Arbor, Mich., announced he will retire at the end of the year.

7. Rochester (N.Y.) Regional Health System named Eric Bieber, MD, president and CEO, effective Nov. 1.

8. Michael McEachern was named the permanent CEO of Bowie (Texas) Memorial Hospital.

9. Joseph Trunfio, PhD, president and CEO of Morristown, N.J.-based Atlantic Health System, announced his retirement. 

10. Newburyport, Mass.-based Anna Jaques Hospital President and CEO Delia O'Connor announced plans to retire at the end of this year. Mark L. Goldstein, the hospital's executive vice president and CFO, will take over as CEO as of Jan. 1, 2015.
