President William Ulbricht: Continually Improving at St. Anthony's Health Care

Staff -
William Ulbricht, MBA, has served as president of St. Anthony's Health Care, a 395-bed, one-hospital system in St. Petersburg, Fla., since April 2007. St. Anthony's is part of Clearwater, Fla.-based BayCare Health System.

Before becoming president of St. Anthony's, Mr. Ulbricht spent 10 years as COO of South Florida Baptist Hospital in Plant City, Fla., a BayCare hospital. He has more than 15 years of operational and management experience and a background in finance.

Since Mr. Ulbricht has been at the helm, St. Anthony's has made many improvements. In 2012, the hospital opened a new emergency center and unveiled 64 new private patient rooms with the goal to make the facility feel less like a hospital. "Providing patients with privacy while allowing our team to continue giving excellent healthcare are key components of theā€¦patient rooms. We put an emphasis on providing a hotel-like environment with a focus on family-centered care," Mr. Ulbricht explained in a release.

Under Mr. Ulbricht's watch, St. Anthony's has also received recognitions of excellence. In 2012, the American Stroke Association awarded the hospital with its Get With the Guidelines-Stroke Gold Plus Performance Achievement Award for St. Anthony's commitment to implementing a higher standard of stroke care.

In addition to improving the system, Mr. Ulbricht has also been committed to improving the community. He has volunteered his time in various organizations throughout his career, such as the Plant City Chamber of Commerce, the YMCA and the Lions Club. He has also served on the boards of the United Way and the American Cancer Society.
