Steven G. Littleson, FACHE, has served as president of Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, N.J., since 1997.
Jersey Shore University Medical Center is part of Neptune, N.J.-based Meridian Health. In addition to his role as president of the medical center, Mr. Littleson serves as executive sponsor for Meridian service lines, such as the Meridian Pediatric Network, Meridian Cardiovascular Network and Meridian Cancer Care.
During his tenure as president, Mr. Littleson established the K. Hovnanian Children's Hospital at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, which became the first state-designated children's hospital in the area in 2006. This year, Mr. Littleson is overseeing the expansion of the children's hospital campus, which will add more private rooms and expand the pediatric intensive care unit. "This expansion will give our outstanding team the best facilities to serve the sickest and most severely injured children in our region," Mr. Littleson said in a statement.
Also under Mr. Littleson's leadership, Jersey Shore completed a $300 million expansion project in 2009, which added 400,000 square feet of space and a new emergency department, among other additions.
Mr. Littleson is involved in several professional organizations, such as the New Jersey Hospital Association and the NJ Council of Teaching Hospitals. Outside of healthcare, he has served on the boards of many community organizations, such as the Boy Scouts of America, United Way, American Red Cross and Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Additionally, Mr. Littleson is a certified youth lacrosse coach and has served as the president of the Fair Haven Recreation Soccer Association.
