In this role, Mr. DeFur is responsible for overseeing St. Vincent Indianapolis Hospital, which consists of four inpatient facilities totaling to about 900 beds, and numerous outpatient facilities.

Mr. DeFur is focused on growth through strategic partnerships with physicians and hospitals. He has also aggressively implemented LEAN process improvement methodology throughout the organization to improve quality, efficiency and safety.

His hard work has not gone unnoticed. In 2011, St. Vincent Indianapolis was named to Thomson Reuters' 100 Top Hospitals — the third consecutive year the hospital earned the award. In 2008, the hospital earned the Everest Award from Thomson Reuters, which recognizes hospitals for the fastest improvement and top performance. Under Mr. DeFur's leadership, the hospital also made Becker's Hospital Review's list of the 50 best hospitals in the nation in 2011.

Mr. DeFur himself made Becker Hospital Review's list 2012 list of 300 hospital and health system leaders to know.

Mr. DeFur has master's degrees in hospital administration and business administration from Xavier University in Cincinnati.
