CEO William McDonald: Building Partnerships at St. Joseph's Healthcare System

William McDonald has served as president and CEO of St. Joseph's Healthcare System in Paterson, N.J., since Sept. 15, 2006.

Mr. McDonald has served as CEO of various hospitals and health systems throughout his career, including Miami Children's Hospital and the University of Texas Medical Schools Hospital in Dallas, among others.

During his career at St. Joseph's, Mr. McDonald has forged a partnership with Medical Missions for Children, a global telemedicine and teaching network located on the Paterson campus of St. Joseph's. "The special things they do to help reach out to take care of children in need really touched not only my heart but really was something that fit very well with St. Joe's and its mission," he said in a video released by Medical Missions for Children. "Medical Missions gives us the capability not just to touch the local community…but really people that are all over this world."

Beyond the partnership with Medical Missions for Children, Mr. McDonald has also fostered clinical partnerships with Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

Mr. McDonald earned a master's degree in healthcare administration from Trinity University in San Antonio.
