CEO Stephen Jones: With Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital for 20 Years

Stephen K. Jones has served as president and CEO of Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and Health System in Brunswick, N.J., since September 2007.

Mr. Jones served as interim president and CEO prior to taking the position permanently. Before taking the helm at RWJ Health System, he was the hospital's senior vice president of operations, a position he held since 1983.

Outside of his experience at RWJ Health System, Mr. Jones was assistant director at Somerset medical Center in Somerville, N.J., and assistant director at Barnert Memorial Hospital Center in Paterson, N.J. He has more than 30 years of healthcare management experience.

When Mr. Jones is not busy leading RWJ Health System, he has a faculty appointment at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey in the public health program and a faculty appointment at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey's School of Public Health master's program.

Mr. Jones is involved in several national and state professional organizations: He is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, a past president of the Senior Healthcare Executives Society of New Jersey and a past president of the Assistant Hospital Directors Association of New Jersey.

Mr. Jones' dedication to the healthcare industry has not gone unnoticed. For example, he was named to Becker's Hospital Review's 2013 list of 130 Nonprofit Hospital and Health System CEOs to Know.

Before joining the healthcare industry, Mr. Jones served in the United States Air Force from 1966 to 1970. In the Air Force, Mr. Jones was a Russian linguistic.
