CEO Sherrie Sitarik: Putting Patients First at Orlando Health

Update: Sherrie Sitarik stepped down from her role at Orlando Health in Sept. 2013.

Sherrie Sitarik was named president and CEO of Orlando (Fla.) Health in February 2010.

Ms Sitarik worked her way through Orlando Health's ranks before she took system's top spot. She joined Orlando Health in 1978 as a graduate nurse in the neonatal intensive care unit at Orlando Regional Medical Center. She has held various leadership positions since then, including president of Orlando Regional Medical Center Lucerne Pavilion, executive director of Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children and Women and executive vice president and chief strategy officer of Orlando Health, among other roles.

Ms. Sitarik says she's stayed with Orlando Health throughout her career for one main reason. "My number one passion is serving people. That's what's kept me here," she said in an Orlando Health video released in 2012. That passion shows in Orlando Health's strategy, which she helped formulate as chief strategy officer. "Patient first is really the core of our 10-year strategy and the journey that we're on."

Ms. Sitarik has garnered national attention for her years of dedication to Orlando Health. In 2012, Becker's Hospital Review named her to its list of 100 Non-Profit Hospital and Health System CEOs to Know, its list of 300 Hospital and Health System Leaders to Know and its list of 120 Women Hospital and Health System Leaders to Know.
