CEO Dr. Stephen Mansfield: Devoted to the Mission of Methodist Health System

Stephen Mansfield, PhD, has served as president and CEO of Methodist Health System in Dallas since 2006. Under his leadership, Methodist Health has doubled in size and experienced the most profitable years in its history.

Dr. Mansfield is deeply committed to Methodist Health's mission to improve and save lives through compassionate and quality healthcare. He views his leadership as a ministry to serve people from all lifestyles in a rapidly changing healthcare environment. In an interview with Methodist Health shortly after he was appointed CEO, Dr. Mansfield said, "Non-profit healthcare must be successful philanthropically in order for us to fully realize our mission. With more reimbursement challenges, incredibly expensive medical technology and a burgeoning load of charity and uninsured care, philanthropy is an area that is absolutely critical to our future."

Before joining Methodist, Dr. Mansfield served seven years as president and CEO of the five-hospital St. Vincent Health System based in Little Rock, Ark. Prior to that, he held a variety of leadership positions within the Baptist Memorial Health Care System in Memphis, Tenn., for 23 years.

Dr. Mansfield is an active member of the Dallas Regional Chamber, currently serving as a member of the board and chair of the Health System CEO Council. He is also a member of the executive committee of the North Texas Commission, the Dallas Citizens Council and the American Hospital Association Regional Policy Board.
