CEO Dr. Maria Ryan: Leading by Example at Cottage Hospital
Under Dr. Ryan's leadership, Cottage Hospital became the first critical access hospital in New England to achieve CMS Stage 1 meaningful use certification for its electronic health records in July 2011. Dr. Ryan has also led the hospital's recent multi-million dollar renovation of its diagnostic imaging, laboratory and pain clinic.
"My goal is to create a synergy between the staff and the community we serve to provide an optimal healthcare experience and rewarding work environment," Dr. Ryan has said. She sets an example for her staff in that regard by being very involved in the hospital's community. She has been a member of the Woodsville/Wells River Rotary, the American Organization of Nurse Executives, American Organization of Healthcare Executives, International Nurses Association, New Hampshire Hospital Association and the New England Alliance for Health.
In addition to leading the hospital and her involvement in the community, Dr. Ryan also lectures on lateral violence amongst nurses.
Dr. Ryan earned a master's degree and advance practice nursing degrees from Rivier College in Nashua, N.H., and has also earned a PhD in hospital administration.
Dr. Ryan will be a speaker at the Becker's Hospital Review 4th Annual Meeting, May 9-11, in Chicago. For more information on the event, or to register, please click here.
