CEO Dr. Donald Jernigan: Practiced Leader of Adventist Health System

Donald Jernigan, PhD, is president and CEO of Adventist Health System in Winter Park, Fla. As president and CEO, Dr. Jernigan leads one of the largest non-profit Protestant healthcare organizations in the United States. He oversees healthcare facilities in 10 states, including two hospital divisions with seven regions and 37 hospital campuses as well as a long-term care division. Dr. Jernigan also oversees 43,300 employees, more than 8,700 physicians and a total operating revenue of $5.5 billion.

Donald Jernigan CEO of Adventist Health SystemPreviously, Dr. Jernigan served as executive vice president of AHS and CEO of AHS' Florida Hospital in Orlando and its Florida division; executive vice president of AHS and CEO of its multi-state hospital division; and president of AHS' Tennessee Christian Medical Center in Madison and its Tennessee/Georgia region. He has also served as senior vice president of AHS and president of its Metroplex Hospital in Killeen, Texas.

Dr. Jernigan is a chairman of the board of Florida Hospital and a member of the Govenor's Council of the Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission. He has also served on the boards of United Way and several chambers of commerce.
