CEO Dave Cheney: Leading Banner Boswell Medical Center to the Everest Award
Prior to becoming CEO of Banner Boswell, Mr. Cheney served as senior administrator of Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center in Phoenix.
Since taking the helm at Banner Boswell, Mr. Cheney has created a culture of listening and responding to patient needs. "We welcome [patient] thoughts and would love to hear from [patients] about what we are doing well, as well as our opportunities for improvement," he has said. Mr. Cheney created "Dear Dave" comment cards that are located throughout the hospital that allow hospital patients to write down their compliments and criticisms while at the hospital.
While Mr. Cheney has been in charge, Banner Boswell Medical Center has received many awards and recognitions of excellence. In 2012, the hospital was one of Thomson Reuter's Everest Award winners. To receive the Everest Award, a hospital must be ranked among the top 100 in the nation and have the greatest rate of improvement over the last five years. Banner Boswell has also been named one of the top hospitals in metro Phoenix by U.S. News & World Report.
