CEO Carl Armato: Bringing Novant Health Closer Together

Carl Armato, CPA, has served as president and CEO of Winton-Salem, N.C.-based Novant Health since January 2012.

Mr. Aramto has been with Novant since 1998. He started as the vice president of finance and operations for the physician clinic division. He has held many leadership and executive positions since 1998, including senior executive vice president and, most recently, COO.

During his career at Novant, Mr. Aramto told The Business Journal that the health system has changed. "We've come together as a system over the 13 years I've been with Novant," he said. "We used to have different parts and pieces of the organizations that joined together. We truly are Novant now."

Mr. Armato is also involved in the community. He currently serves as the chairman of the board for Mecklenburg Citizen for Public Education. He also served as chairman of the Friends of Scouting Exploring Community Campaign in 2004, was a member of the 2004 and 2005 American Heart Walk Executive Committee, a member of the VHA Central Atlantic board of directors in 2005 and 2006 and a past member of the Knights of Columbus.

Outside of his community involvement, Mr. Armato is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the North Carolina Society of Certified Public Accountants, the State Board of CPAs of Louisiana and the Healthcare Financial Management Association.
