Which Hogwarts house do these companies belong in?

If you're a fan of Hogwarts, the Sorting Hat and everything Harry Potter, this analysis is for you.

Venngage, an infographic-making company, looked at 54 technology companies and sorted them into the four Hogwarts houses — Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin — based on their company culture.

Venngage started by reaching out to employees from each of the 54 tech organizations to ask them about their company culture. For companies that didn't reply, Venngage analyzed their mission, value statements and Glassdoor employee reviews.

All four houses have unique personalities and styles, so Venngage used the Pottermore Wiki to clearly create a clear definition of each house's characteristics.

  • Companies with a Gryffindor culture value "risk taking, determination and competitiveness in their team members."
  • Those with a Hufflepuff culture "pride trustworthiness, loyalty and a strong work ethic in their team members."
  • Companies with a Ravenclaw culture value "creativity, innovation and thought leadership" among employees.
  • Those with a Slytherin culture "pride ambition and cunning in their team members."

The results? Of the 54 companies, 17 — including Facebook, Twitter, Tesla and Reddit — were Gryffindors. Sixteen companies were Ravenclaws, including Google, Mailchimp, Survey Monkey and Pinterest. Fifteen companies were Hufflepuffs, including Salesforce, Instagram, Airbnb and DropBox. Only seven companies were sorted into Slytherin, including Apple, Buzzfeed, LinkedIn and Snapchat.
