Walgreens, PatientsLikeMe dashboard lets patients post medication experiences

Patient-centered database PatientsLikeMe and Walgreens have partnered to produce a tool that allows patients to see other people's stories of their experiences with medications.

Called the Health Dashboard, the interface is available on Walgreens' website once members log in. Any time a patient is researching or filling a prescription, other patients' experiences with that medication will appear. The Deerfield, Ill.,-based drugstore chain can access the PatientsLikeMe database, which currently has more than 300,000 members.

Walgreens currently operates 8,229 stores nationwide and in the U.S. territories and records 8 million customer interactions per day. The collaboration is the first time PatientsLikeMe has integrated its data on another company's website, according to a news release.

"We want to help patients wherever they are, so they can be better informed about the treatments they're taking and make more informed health decisions," said Michael Evers, PatientsLikeMe executive vice president of marketing and patient advocacy, in a news release.
