Voalte deploys over 11,000 Zebra Technologies' mobile computers in US hospitals

Voalte® announced yesterday that it has recently deployed its 11,000th Zebra Technologies’ healthcare mobile computer.

In 2014, Voalte entered a strategic relationship with Zebra Technologies to deploy Zebra MC40-HC mobile handheld computers - a joint effort that has broadened the market for Android-based healthcare communication. The main advantage of the Android™ operating system is that hardware and software can be purpose-built, designed, and/or selected for the challenging hospital environment.

The Android-based MC40-HC device provides a sustainable platform for the healthcare environment, including robust Wi-Fi connections that keep staff connected, security features that help meet patient privacy requirements, and remote management of devices and applications. The communication solution has been successfully deployed at Avera Health, Frisbie Memorial Hospital, and Sarasota Memorial Health Care System, to name a few.

“Providers are looking to Voalte to provide strategic functionality and interoperability,” said Trey Lauderdale, founder and CEO of Voalte. “Working with Zebra’s technology team has helped us scale and align mobile device features with caregiver needs. The result is a much-needed enterprise-grade product in the healthcare space: one that integrates with current systems and provides a platform for future technologies.”

Voalte Platform provides a solid foundation for communication that can expand to meet both current and future communication needs of hospitals. It brings a wealth of features and benefits to current and existing customers leveraging Voalte Collaboration Solutions such as Voalte One and Voalte Me. Voalte Platform is built for the way caregivers communicate, starting with an even better advanced directory that reflects on-the-fly changes. Users can find caregivers by name, role and room.

The Zebra MC40-HC mobile computer is loaded with enterprise-class features and durability, including robust connectivity, data capture, disinfectant-ready housing, a liquid-resistant surface and long battery life. All of this is housed behind a familiar, user-friendly touch screen interface.

“The MC40-HC running Voalte software is blazing the trail for Android enterprise healthcare communications,” said Garry Reichert, vice president of OEM Sales at Zebra Technologies. “By replacing outdated pagers and legacy devices with swift and secure two-way communication on an easy-to-use mobile computer built for healthcare environments, we are helping hospitals improve the quality and efficiency of patient care.”

To enable it to quickly scale up for large, multi-hospital deployments, Voalte recently raised new capital from Ascension Ventures, Cerner Capital, Inc., an affiliate of Cerner Corporation, and Bedford Funding.
