The Vermont Agency of Human Services plans to replace two decades-old technology programs, according to a Burlington Free Press report.
The Agency plans to replace Access, a benefits eligibility database, and a Medicaid system, according to the report.
"Today, we are working with systems that are decades old, which are cumbersome to update [and] inhibit our ability to serve Vermonters in a comprehensive, efficient manner, and can create compliance issues," read a document provided to House committees.
Health Commissioner Harry Chen, MD, said the overhaul will pull from lessons learned from other state project rollouts, such as Vermont Health Connect, according to the report.
The federal government will cover 90 percent of the cost, and Mr. Chen asked for the state to contribute $16 million over the next two years, according to the report. No total project cost has been provided.
