Truman Medical Centers Wins AHIMA's Grace Award for Innovative IT

Staff -

The American Health Information Management Association has presented Truman Medical Centers in Kansas City, Mo., with the Grace Award, recognizing the hospital's innovative and effective approach to using health information to deliver quality care.

Specifically, the award recognizes TMC's use of Cerner's Lighthouse Solutions to track patient falls and pressure ulcers, and then use the information to improve care and decrease lengths of stay.

"These efforts, along with TMC's implementation of a patient portal and participation in health information exchange, align with AHIMA's strategic goal to 'Drive the Power of Knowledge: Health Information Where and When It's Needed,'" said AHIMA CEO Lynne Thomas Gordon, in a news release. "TMC's health information management department is an excellent model of the leadership we encourage our members to achieve."
