Stanford digital health center awards 1k Apple Watches for 5 seed grants

The Stanford (Calif.) Center for Digital Health awarded its first seed grants — which include 1,000 Apple Watches — to Stanford faculty studying how smartwatches can improve health outcomes.

The center seeks to foster collaboration between technology companies and Stanford faculty to advance digital health research.

Here are the five grant-winning investigators and their projects.

1. Alia Crum, PhD, an assistant professor of psychology: "Harnessing mindset in health technology"

2. Maarten Lansberg, MD, PhD, Scott Delp, PhD, and Kara Flavin, MD, a group of multidisciplinary researchers: "ReClaim: A virtual therapist for stroke patient arm recovery"

3. Sarah Adler, PsyD, a clinical assistant professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences, and Jane Kim, PhD, an instructor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences: "Exploring an artificial intelligence approach to support adherence behaviors in psychiatric clinical care"

4. Leanne Williams, PhD, a professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences: "Stop, watch: Reducing hyperactivity and supporting attention for youth with ADHD"

5. Lorene Nelson, PhD, assistant professor of health research and policy: "Individualized migraine attack prediction with self-reported and passively collected data"
