Philips and Advanced ICU Care introduce eBook highlighting the impact of Tele-ICU technology

In a recent press release, Philips and Advanced ICU Care announced they have teamed up to release a new eBook that helps hospital clinicians and leaders better understand the benefits and value tele-ICU solutions can bring to the critical care setting.

The downloadable eBook, entitled, "Tele-ICU: The New Standard of Care," draws on Philips and Advanced ICU Care's collaborative relationship spanning more than a decade and includes various data from health systems around the country revealing that tele-ICUs have become a standard in healthcare, delivering improved outcomes for patients and cost savings for health systems.

This new ebook is intended as a guide to help chief medical officers and other hospital leaders understand and investigate tele-ICU solutions. The data presented make the case that the introduction of telemedicine to the care of the most critically ill patients is no longer limited to early-adopters. Rather, tele-ICU has become the standard of care for hospitals with an intensive care unit (ICU), delivering improved results whether the hospital has its own team of critical care specialists (called intensivists) or it relies on generalists to lead care in the ICU. In the 2016 edition of its Hype Cycle report, Gartner omitted tele-ICU for the first time in a number of years, arguing that "clinical effectiveness and high adoption rates" had effectively moved it from hype to a standard of care.
