iHealth Alliance, a non-profit organization made up of medical societies and liability carriers, collaborated with federal agencies and PDR Network to launch a national online system where physicians and other healthcare providers can convene to report issues related to implementation and use of electronic health records, according to an iHealth Alliance news release.EHRevent.org will collect reports from physicians and other healthcare providers who use EHRs and create reports that medical societies, professional liability carriers and government agencies can use to help educate healthcare providers on potential challenges that implementation and maintenance of EHRs may bring.
EHRevent will be working with EHR vendors as well as regional extension centers to help educate physicians on the importance of EHR event reporting. The FDA will also use the information gathered to evaluate any safety issues that may arise during implementation of EHRs.
