New York City-based Mount Sinai Health System's Translational and Molecular Imaging Institute developed a large-scale database of de-identified patient images.
The database, called the Imaging Research Warehouse, integrates clinical images with patients' corresponding EHRs. Mount Sinai will provide researchers access to this information, so investigators can explore patterns in traits like genetics or blood markers.
The health system expects the database to include information from more than 1 million Mount Sinai patients. These images might relate to mammography, neurodegenerative diseases and genomics, among other medical research areas.
"By having this imaging data available, we can find new patterns of disease and new ways to diagnose and develop new treatments," said TMII Director Zahi Fayad, PhD.
