Kony, a mobile technology company, applauded the Food and Drug Administration's plan to promote digital health innovation, which Food and Drug Commissioner Scott Gottlieb, MD, released June 15.
Kony partnered with Ease Applications to offer a mobile app that allows physicians and nurses to send HIPAA-compliant text updates from the operating room, neonatal intensive care unit and intensive care unit. Tom Hogan, Kony's CEO, told Becker's Hospital Review via email the "fast track" regulatory process for new digital health solutions is "game changing."
"This plan is a win-win-win proposition, enabling the FDA to fulfill its mission to protect and promote public health, empower healthcare providers and organizations to deliver innovative patient-centered solutions through secure, leading-edge applications and, ultimately, enhance the patient experience, well-being and convenience," Mr. Hogan wrote.
Editors Note: This post originally neglected, in error, that Kony was partnered with Ease applications. This article has since been updated. Becker's Hospital Review apologizes for this error.
