Milford Regional Medical Center achieves HIMSS stage 6

HIMSS Analytics has recognized Milford (Mass.) Regional Medical Center for its EMR system use, awarding the hospital stage 6 designation on its EMR Adoption Model.

Hospitals that have reached stage 6 on HIMSS' EMR Adoption Model have made significant executive commitments and investments to IT and EMRs, appear to have significant advantage over competitors in the realm of patient safety and clinician support, operate almost entirely paperless medical records and are positioned to support EHR environments and health information exchanges, among other accomplishments.

Approximately 22 percent of all hospitals nationwide have achieved stage 6.

"It was a real team effort led by our IT department that allowed us to achieve stage 6 on the EMR Adoption Model," said Milford Regional President Edward J. Kelly. "The fact that only 22 percent of hospitals nationwide have met this goal is a real testament to the commitment demonstrated by the Milford Regional team to pursue full implementation of this important advancement in healthcare technology."
